David Rosenberg is the President and Chief Economist & Strategist of Rosenberg Research & Associates Inc., an economic consulting firm he established in January 2020. He and his team have as their top priority providing investors with analysis and insights to help them make well-informed investment decisions. Prior to Rosenberg Research, David was Chief Economist & Strategist at Gluskin Sheff + Associates Inc. from 2009 to 2019.
From 2002 to 2009, he was Chief North American Economist at Merrill Lynch in New York, during which he was consistently ranked in the Institutional Investor All-Star analyst rankings. Prior thereto, he was Chief Economist and Strategist for Merrill Lynch Canada, based out of Toronto, where he and his team placed first in the Brendan Woods survey of Canadian economists for ten years in a row.
Mr. Rosenberg is a frequent contributor to most major financial newspapers and publications in North America and makes regular TV appearances in the financial media. He received both a Bachelor of Arts and Masters of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Toronto.
Brendan Livingstone is a Senior Market Strategist with the firm, with his primary focus on forecasting market trends and generating actionable investment ideas. Brendan spearheads the Rosenberg Research 'Strategizer' publication.
Before joining Rosenberg Research, Brendan worked for David Rosenberg at Gluskin Sheff for three years and helped support the firm’s top-down investment process. Prior to that, he was a member of the economics and strategy team at Macquarie Securities Group.
Brendan received a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Queen’s University and is a CFA charterholder.
Andrew Hencic is a Senior Economist with the firm, focusing on quantitative analysis, model building and macroeconomic forecasting.
Prior to joining Rosenberg Research, Andrew worked as an Economist with TD Bank where his responsibilities included developing econometric models, regulatory stress testing and research on economic risk.
Andrew holds an M.A. and Ph.D in Economics from York University and a BBA from Wilfrid Laurier University.
Marius Jongstra is an Economist covering macroeconomic and financial market developments, contributing to Rosenberg Research’s daily reports, chart packages and helps build the firm’s internal market indices.
Prior to joining the firm, Marius spent three and a half years at Gluskin Sheff + Associates Inc., in which he supported David Rosenberg in the research and publication of Breakfast with Dave as well as helping the firm’s top-down investment approach.
Marius holds a Master of Finance degree from Queen’s University as well as an H.B.A. from Wilfrid Laurier University. He also has completed both Level I and II of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program.
Ellen Cooper is an Economist focusing on global macroeconomic developments with long-term impact on growth and financial markets. Ellen is also a key contributor to Rosenberg Research’s in-depth reports and daily publications.
Prior to joining Rosenberg Research, Ellen was a Senior Economist with the Department of Innovation, Science and Economic Development in Ottawa, specializing in Canadian aerospace and defence impact analysis. She has held various economist positions with the federal government including a stint in the Regional Development Agency for Western Canada during the 2014-16 oil market downturn. She has also worked as a social impact consultant in the private sector both in Canada and Chile, primarily serving clients in the mining industry.
She holds an MA in International Trade, Finance and Development from the Barcelona Graduate School of Economics and a BA in Economics and International Relations from the University of British Columbia. Ellen brings with her a diverse perspective gained from living in various regions of Canada, Alaska, Chile, Spain and Singapore.
Julia Wendling is a Junior Economist responsible for compiling and publishing Rosenberg Research’s suite of products, including the daily Breakfast with Dave report. Julia researches key macroeconomic issues and supports the team in conducting data analysis.
Prior to joining Rosenberg Research, Julia worked as a financial analyst in CBRE’s residential real estate investment group, where she acquired in-depth knowledge of Canada’s commercial real estate market.
Julia holds a M.A. in Economics from the University of Toronto as well as a B.A. in Economics and a Certificate in Business from Queen’s University.
Enrique Flores is the firm's Chief Marketing Officer and oversees operations, social media, technology, advertising, branding, client relations and sales strategy for the firm.
Prior to joining Rosenberg Research, Enrique was the Director, Brand & Communications at Gluskin Sheff, where he led the firm’s branding and communications strategy. He also oversaw the operations of Breakfast with Dave, which included working closely with David Rosenberg for close to a decade in product development, sales, market penetration and customer service.
As the business manager of the Breakfast with Dave product for nine years prior to the launch of Rosenberg Research, Enrique has unique knowledge of our service offering, client needs and operations.
Marcel Aulls is Rosenberg Research’s Vice-President of Sales and oversees the firm’s sales and business development efforts.
Prior to joining Rosenberg Research, Marcel had worked with David Rosenberg for close to two years at Gluskin Sheff + Associates Inc. helping to expand the client base for Breakfast with Dave and serving existing clients. Marcel has over 15 years of experience in business development and account management within the financial sector, working with CIOs, CEOs, portfolio managers, analysts, traders and risk professionals for both buy-side and sell-side firms.
He graduated with distinction from McGill University with an BA in Communications.
Rachael Zbar is a Corporate Director overseeing the company’s legal, financial, and HR affairs.
She is a former Social Worker and has a history of extensive volunteer service in the local community.
Rachael holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Social Work from the University of Toronto.
Dana Habib is the firm’s Office & Client Administration Manager and Executive Assistant to David Rosenberg. Dana ensures that our everyday operations are fully resourced and manages all enquiries and administrative requirements of client accounts. In addition, Dana supports our President and Chief Economist & Strategist, David Rosenberg.
Prior to joining Rosenberg Research, Dana worked for over 15 years within the wealth management industry in office assistant and supervisor positions at firms such as PIMCO Canada, RBC Global Asset Management and TD Asset Management. Dana has a track record of working in high- performance, fast-paced environments and providing excellent customer service.
Dinesh Vel is Manager of Business Intelligence and Technology and is responsible for looking after the firm's data analytics and technology needs.
Prior to joining Rosenberg Research, Dinesh was a Business Solutions Manager at RBC where he streamlined many of the firm’s regulatory reporting processes. He also worked as a Program Manager at Gluskin Sheff + Associates Inc. where he led and oversaw the operations of the Investment Technology team.
Dinesh holds a Bachelor of Mathematics in Actuarial Science and Statistics from the University of Waterloo.
Jacob Rosenberg is a Client Relations Representative on the firm's sales team and the production manager for Rosenberg Research. He manages and oversees all of David’s online presentations and interviews, and liaises with host networks to ensure a successful product.
Prior to joining Rosenberg Research, Jacob worked in the video game industry as an audio designer as well as in several client relations related roles across industries.
Jacob holds an MMus in Music Technology and Digital Media from the University of Toronto and a BA in Economics from McGill University.
Jeff Burchell is a Senior Advisor to Rosenberg Research with an emphasis on providing actionable financial market recommendations. In addition to Rosenberg Research, Jeff is currently working with, and invested in, a number of private companies in management and advisory roles.
Jeff has more than two decades of experience across various roles in the corporate sector with particular depth in the investment management industry, including a history of portfolio management success stemmed from his strong roots in fundamental research.
Jeff’s roles have included Co-CIO of a multi-billion dollar asset manager and portfolio manager of a diverse range of North America- focused equity investment strategies and products spanning multiple asset classes, including risk arbitrage, market neutral and long-short equity, and long only portfolios. He began his career publishing investment research at several investment banks; these roles involved critically assessing a company’s strategic plans and execution based on in-depth research and financial modelling.
Jeff has served as an independent director on the boards of two public companies. His board work has overseen executive transitions, raising of public capital and IPO management. In addition, he has both chaired and served on audit, governance and compensation committees.
He received an MBA and Law degree from Dalhousie University and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Acadia University. He has also earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
Mr. Keith Edwards is a Technical Analysis Consultant to Rosenberg Research.
Keith joined the investment industry as a self-employed technical analyst in 1976. He subsequently was hired in 1987 as a Technical Analyst at the Nesbitt Thomson investment bank in Toronto. Keith moved from there to rival Burns Fry in 1989, which through a merger became BMO Nesbitt Burns five years hence, where he remained until retiring in 2009.
Keith is a founding member of the American Association of Professional Technical Analysts.
